3rd Year Electrical Engineering
"Since joining UBC Solar in 2024, I’ve gained hands-on experience with both Low-Voltage and High-Voltage systems of the solar car while working alongside a talented and driven team. It’s been an incredibly rewarding environment this past year, and I’m excited to help create a competitive system for our new car!"
Power and Signals is a sub-team responsible for both the high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems of the car. The team focuses on system-level integration of the solar arrays, maximum power point trackers (MPPTs), traction motor, and vehicle electronics such as exterior lighting, the driver display, and telemetry. The team's main focus includes designing efficient power systems to maximize driving duration, maintaining signal integrity for reliable inter-subsystem communication, and working closely with mechanical sub-teams to ensure electronics are properly protected and integrated within the vehicle. Within Power and Signals, members apply PCB and circuit design skills in addition to hands-on testing, debugging, and validation to ensure reliable operation under real-world conditions.
