"Being on VDX for a solar car racing team is one of the highlights of my university experience. Seeing designs start to end and building it myself has been the most rewarding experience."

"If there's one thing I've gotten from Solar it's that it's well worth it to get involved and be curious. That's not just about being a good engineer, it lets you grow closer to people as you get to connect, gain experiences you'd never would have otherwise and just be able to work on something really cool together."

What does Vehicle Dynamics do?

What does
Vehicle
Dynamics do?

The Vehicle Dynamics Team (VDX) engineers the suspension, steering, and braking systems that define the car’s on-track performance. Designs are grounded in vehicle dynamics and executed through detailed CAD modelling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). VDX emphasizes stiffness, weight optimization, and precise control of load paths to extract performance. Most components are manufactured in-house, ensuring design decisions are informed by real mechanical constraints. The result is a tightly integrated system built to perform at the limit.
